I'm honestly wondering if Microsoft's development process for Windows 10 is creating some of the same "our way or the highway" cultural conflicts that MacOS developers suffer from. Put simply, Microsoft screwed up badly here and I'd expect some patches within a month or two. Games that are xinput-only may not be able to exclusively grab the xinput device and may fail to see the controller.
Games that actually natively support dinput and xinput both are going to especially choke on that.
